Goodreads: I’m Looking for Friends

Would anyone like to be my friend? I haven’t asked that question since I was a child, and I have to say I feel quite vulnerable asking it. Even though I’m asking for Goodreads friends, it’s still quite intimidating. But yes, I would love some friends!

To say I love reading is an understatement. I ADORE it. I’m looking for friends on Goodreads whoΒ are particularly interested in either Thrillers or Romance novels. I love books like Gone Girl, The Girl on The Train, etc. I have a kindle, which I love, but I struggle to identify which books on amazon to read. It’s not quite the same as having a beautiful bookshelf of novels to browse through in a bookshop. I’d love your recommendations.

So, yes, if you would like to connect me I would be overjoyed! This is the link to my page, alternatively you can add your link in the comments and I will add you.

Have a lovely day all you reading fans!

  2. Sure. πŸ™‚ I’ve never searched for anyone specific on Goodreads so not sure if you just need my name (Valerie Long) or if u need my email. If you need my email, use the “Contact Me” page on my blog and I’ll send it to you. πŸ™‚

  3. I want to be your friend! I’ve added you. πŸ™‚ I have a shelf of thrillers and quite a few on my TBR list – I added one yesterday called ‘The Woman in Cabin 10’ which sounds like a modern ‘The Lady Vanishes’.

I’ve been reading less romance since I began writing it (so hard to turn off critique mode) but I’m making a conscious effort to read more this year. Currently got ‘Dirty’ by Kylie Scott on my reading list.

      1. Ooh I see you’re a fan of Tess Gerritsen – such good taste! πŸ˜‰

        I think you might like:
LOOK BEHIND YOU – Sibel Hodge (a woman wakes up buried alive and has to find out who her abductor was)

CUCKOO – Julia Crouch (a family has a house visitor who might want more than hospitality…)

13 STEPS DOWN – Ruth Rendell (a man obsessed with a dead serial killer and a living model takes his interests a step too far)

  4. Sorry, sci-fi/fantasy and history nerd… I’ve never gotten into thrillers. But I LOVE this idea and can’t wait to see what books get discovered!

  5. Yes love reading, yes looking for friends, but romance writing, um, not really my style. I like the fact that you are going for it and writing a book! Good luck!

  6. Looks like you have LOTS of friends now. πŸ™‚ I don’t know much about GoodReads, but I can tell you some writers and books I’ve liked. Joanna Carl is one of my favorite cozy writers —maybe too tame for your tastes? I’d give four stars to the first two of Emma Jameson’s Lord & Lady Hetheridge (London police) stories. Don’t do the real thrillers, though I have read several of Charles Todd’s Ian Rutledge series. Excellent writing. I detest “chick lit” romances where the main character sounds immature and totally self-centered. I’d rather read D.E. Stevenson any day.

  7. Thank you for the like and follow on my blog. I’m new to Goodreads, and I certainly wouldn’t mind some friends so I sent you a request. I love romance, and I also enjoy thrillers, some horror, mysteries, and some science fiction. I could give you a ton of recommendations. πŸ™‚ I average about a book a day, or at the very least one every two days, and I’m still not even close to nearing the end of my TBR list.

  8. Hey there Amy, I’ve sent you a request on Goodreads. I’ve read several of your blog posts thus far, and absolutely love the lightheartedness and creativity of your writing style, as well as your insightful posts on character development and plotting – SUPER-DEE-DUPER helpful! πŸ™‚
I’ve recently read and reviewed Sad Girls by Lang Leav. It’s more of a coming-of-age novel with a heavy dose of chilling mystery and seductive romance. Even though it’s extremely heavy in dialogue I felt as though the plot twists and organization of the novel was beautifully done.
Thanks for your amazing posts πŸ™‚
    Happy writing!
