Camp NaNoWriMo – Day 2 Update

Despite all my procrastinating day 1 went really well. I wrote 3297 words, which I needed to because –

  1. I’m starting a new job tomorrow, and so my brain will be focused on that instead of writing
  2. I’m going on holiday on the 9th July, and I want to make sure that I have a really modest word count goal on those days.

So far I’ve written 1022 words today, and I’m hoping to hit the 3,000 mark again. I’m finding it harder today, however, because I’m so distracted! So I should probably get off of WordPress.

For those of you taking part in July Camp NaNoWriMo, good luck! I hope it is going well for you.

  1. 3300 words, nicely done!

What’s your daily target? I always find a good flurry of words at the start of the month sets a nice buffer when the inevitable distractions come along. (In November, mine was the US presidential election in November, so I ended up lowering my daily wordcount to 1000 a day, which is more achievable for me than 1667 anyway.)

    Good luck with the words!

    1. Thank you 🙂 I’m hoping to hit 3,000 today and then 2,000 for the next week so I only have to do about 200 on my holiday days. There’s a lot of room for error there too thank goodness! I can imagine NaNo in Nov in the US was tough. What a crazy ride that election was, even in the U.K. We were all talking about it

  2. You can do it! You could always do a few word sprints when you’re in the tough spots. Just keep in mind that holiday. And congrats on the job!

I’ve found the later in the day it gets, the slower I write and the less enthusiasm I have. The last few hundred words is always tough to get through.

  3. You can do it! I have to work today. I have the scrivener app on my iPhone so I can write before, during my lunch and on my way home (I take the bus), I want to try and get to 1500 words today.
